Cupcake Cuties

A few days back we had some friends come over after school. The main activity was cupcake makin. It was a lot of fun and everybody was on a serious sugar high. It had nothing to do with licking all the frosting knives when we were done either :). It was probably the kool-aid drinks we had sitting around by the dozen.

Chan had his BFF Pickles and Beans had her BFF Josie. Pickles brothers and sister stayed and had fun too. It was a lot of chaos, but I would totally do it again. This was the same day Nooshie decided to paint the floor with the food coloring. Good times.

I baked over 40 cupcakes and had 5 different colors of frosting and 6 different types of frosting. There are seriously way too many pictures to post them all, but you get the idea.

Uh, yeah. It may have something to do with licking the frosting knives. :)

It must be love

There is something so serene, so beautiful about each breath a baby takes. The flutter of her eyelashes, her arm against mine, she inches up a little more so that her head rests on my pillow. I lay awake, watching, listening, enjoying the most beautiful sight. She is sleeping, it is early in the morning and all is quite. She is safe, secure and I am in love. So blessed to be a mother, how could I have possibly felt fulfilled before this?
Enjoying every moment, even when those moments just won't stop pulling on you. So blessed to be a mother. A beautiful gift of love and selflessness. It is in fact as they say, to have your heart walk about outside of your body. To watch them grow, to learn, to nurture them, to coddle and care for. The most rewarding and hardest thing I do every day. I wouldn't change a thing, even on the days I wish I could, just for a moment.

To my mama- for no special reason at all. I love you!

in fifty years

My wonderful and amazing husband has two talents that I could absolutely live without.
I think it is even a stretch calling them a talent, but I am giving him the benefit of the doubt, because I am a good wife.

Turns out the kids LOVE them.

I saw this picture from Our Labor of Love photography blog and I knew I had to share since I have no doubt that in 50 years, this will be us.

Him - dancing like he knows it looks good and singing another one of his made up jingles.

Me - Annoyed.

Yep, that's about right.

Love ya babe!!

Oh Sweet, Can't leave you alone for two seconds- Two Year old!

Dear Sweet little, sometimes obnoxious, and always into trouble two year old,
I appreciate your thoughtful ways that you keep me on my toes.
So amazing with the talent you exhort, in all of your efforts to ruin my day, and yet you smile and continue anyway.

So stealth like with super powers in your ability to find, the most extreme way to get my attention time after time.

Oh, sweet little boy, how I love you so, all covered in green, blue, red and orange- colors so stunning for sure.

Almost mesmerising, but not quite.
A bath you had and it still stayed, the color simply did not wash away.

For days you will be the colored boy, and a smile you will bring with plenty of joy.

A blessing to be your mother it is, for you are the funnest, sneakiest kid there is.

Iowa Pictures

If you ever come for a visit here, these are a few of the things you could expect to see.

Beautiful in its own way.

Maybe not necessarily the most glamorous place to live, but it's home.

And if you absolutely need to get away, this is our saving grace:)
