There is nothing that brings peace in your heart, like standing on the grounds of the Nauvoo Temple. Standing on the hill that overlooks old Nauvoo you can see the Mississippi River for Miles. As you drive through Nauvoo, you see the old buildings lining the street then out of nowhere - the Temple stands tall and pops out at you! It was the first stop on our visit. We walked around the Temple and took in all that the architecture had to offer. Noticing the little details you can't get from the pictures. We (Grandma and the kids) then headed down the hill to Historic Nauvoo and visited the Smith Family cemetary. We didn't have a chance to go in all of the homes with the children. But it was great taking in this important piece of history. The children had the opportunity to play at the Pioneer games and experience what the pioneer children had and the responsibilities expected of them. I hope to return there soon with Cory and take in a session at the Temple - also hoping we will get many more opportunities when family and friends come to visit - this is a must see place.
